Thing 21 - Podcasts

Ms. Turner has listened to several podcasts, particularly broadcasts on NPR.org and "Prairie Home Companion" by Garrison Keillor. The list of podcasts found on the Library Success Wiki was interesting. The Booktalks by Nancy Keene were well done and gave Ms. Turner some ideas of podcasting booktalks on some of the new books in her school library. One observation: there was not an elementary school library on the list of school libraries.

From the Education Podcast Network, Ms. Turner found an excellent podcast from a website entitled "Just One More Book". She was so impressed that she subscribed to the RSS feed and will follow on Twitter. The link is as follows: http://www.justonemorebook.com/ and the feed has been added to this blog.

Ms. Turner looked at a few more podcasts on the Education Podcast Network (Language Arts) but found no booktalks better than the one mentioned above. She also noted that many podcasts on the websites were outdated and the links no longer worked.

There is a possibility that the websites that offer podcasts are not blocked in the district so this "Thing" may be one resource that Ms. Turner could use in her school library.
